The 2012 BMW 1-Series Coupe and Convertible both made their public debuts today here in Detroit. While you may have to look really close to notice the changes – once you really get in there, you’ll notice some minor changes to the headlamps and tail lamps. Overall, the model doesn’t look much different from the 2010-2011 model year.

The 2012 BMW 128i Coupe and Convertible still get their power from the 3.0L inline 6-cylinder engine making 230-hp and 200 lb-ft of torque, while the 2012 135i Coupe and Convertible push their weight with the 300-hp 3.0L inline 6-cylinder twin-scroll turbocharged from the 2011 model year. When mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, the 2012 BMW 135i goes from 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds. The 2012 BMW 135i models can also be equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission allowing 0-60 mph to come in 5 seconds flat.
