BMW X2 Making First Appearance at Detroit Auto Show

It has only been a year since BMW unveiled the X2 concept vehicle at last season’s Detroit Auto Show, but the production model is ready to make its debut in the annual event at the Motor City starting January 15. The BMW X2 is the newest member of the BMW X-Series family, delivering a low-slung profile that adds a distinct choice for people looking for a unique Sports Activity Coupe (SAC.) Powered by the 2.0L TwinPower Turbo engine coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the new X2 goes from 0-60 mph in a startling 6.3 seconds. It will be coming to Chapman BMW on Camelback in the spring of 2018.

Modernism Meets Functionality

“The BMW X2 represents an expression of modern and extrovert vehicle dynamics,” according to BMW VP of Design, Adrian van Hooydonk. “Its standalone vehicle concept brings a new, fresh and exciting facet of the BMW to the compact segment.” With the poise of an athlete ready to compete, the newest member of the BMW X-Series is as stunning sitting still as it is powering through curves. The bold styling stands out from the crowd and makes a distinct impression whether you’re stopped for gas or leaving someone in your rear-view mirror. If there’s such a thing as a “fresh” feeling from a vehicle, the BMW X2 definitely has it. With a unique set of proportions that emphasize both the robustness of the X lineup along with the sportiness of a track-hugging race car, the BMW X2 expresses both your wild child and grown-up selves. Even though it’s a bit shorter and lower than the X1, it has the same wheelbase, giving it a more athletic look. “The BMW X2 fuses the fast-moving forms of a coupe with the robust volumes of an X model,” said Thomas Sycha, BMW compact design chief. “It was important to us to make these apparently conflicting aspects of the BMW X2 and the car’s individual character something you experience from every angle and at first glance.”

xDrive Ensures Complete Control

The BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system helps you keep control of your new X2 in all types of weather and road conditions. Along with directional stability and enhanced cornering dynamics, the xDrive system also includes Hill Descent Control, keeping you in charge when you descend steep incline. The Dynamic Stability Control system continually analyzes the road conditions and the way you are driving to provide traction and adjust the suspension for premium handling. Although all the vehicles in the BMW X-Series lineup deliver phenomenal handling and supreme sophistication, the new X2 delivers a different look and feel for people looking for something special. See the new X2 later in the spring when it comes to Chapman BMW on Camelback.
