Twin-Turbo Engines Come in 4 and 6 Cylinders

Say goodbye to the 228i and M235i and hello to the new 230i and M240i as the result of an update to the engines for the BMW 2-Series. The 2017 lineup will feature a 2.0-liter twin turbocharged 4-cylinder that delivers 248 horsepower for the 230i. The M240i steps up a bit to a 3.0-liter twin turbocharged 6-cylinder that produces 335 horses and an eye-opening 369 pound feet of torque. The new models come in both coupe and convertible body styles and will be available for a test drive later this summer at Chapman BMW on Camelback.

New Engines Paired With Latest Transmissions

Both of the new engines come mated with the latest in transmission technology from BMW. The 8-speed Steptronic Sport Automatic transmission is standard in both models, offering a smooth shifting driving experience that results in maximum efficiency. You can also order a 6-speed manual transmission for the same price in the rear-wheel drive model. All-wheel drives only come with the automatic transmission.

Instantaneous Response Makes 6-Cylinder Thrilling

The new 6-cylinder twin turbo engine in the M240i has eliminated the dreaded turbo lag. By integrating the turbocharger into the exhaust manifold the engine is extremely efficient and powerful. It delivers torque early in the process and maintains it as you power through the gears. Variable valve control is the key to the engine’s quick response, taking the all-wheel drive coupe from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds, an increase of 0.2 seconds from the previous model. The convertible covers the same distance in 4.5 seconds.

M Sport Suspension Delivers Dynamic Performance

With lessons learned from the European racing circuit, the M240i features a finely tuned suspension system that combines with light alloy wheels, super sport tires and a powerful braking system to deliver a dynamic driving experience. Choose the 6-speed manual transmission and you’ll also receive a rev matching function to help provide the smoothest gear transitions possible. As you shift into a lower gear, the engine revolutions will increase to create a smooth downshift. You can experience the joy of putting the M240i through its paces later this summer at Chapman BMW on Camelback.

3-Series Incentives Create Attractive Offers

If you can’t wait for the new BMW 2-Series to hit the store, the automaker is offering attractive incentives for qualified buyers on the 3-Series. Finance rates are as low as 2.99 percent and lease packages start at $320 a month. This is a limited time offer available at Chapman BMW on Camelback.

New Model Incorporates High Density Lithium Ion Cells

One of the biggest challenges automakers face as they try to convince a public raised on gasoline about the benefits of electric cars is range. Buyers fear being stuck someplace with a dead battery and no way of getting home, but the new 2017 BMW i3 is making some headroads into providing more distance for the buck. By incorporating a lithium ion battery pack with 50 percent more capacity, the i3 will provide up to 114 miles of range on one charge. That’s more than enough to satisfy the average commute, making sure drivers get to work, run a few errands and get home with more juice left in the tank. The addition of an optional small gasoline engine, which automatically kicks in when the batteries fall below a certain level, extends the range even farther. The new i3 will be making its way to the Phoenix BMW inventory at Chapman BMW on Camelback later this fall.

BMW i3 Designed for Ease of Service

BMW engineers had the future in mind in more ways than one when designing the i3. Along with many breakthrough technological features like longer battery life and quick charging times, the i3 is different from competitors when it comes to servicing the battery pack. A single module in the battery can be exchanged if it goes dead, saving time and money for the end user. The battery on the 94 ampere hour i3 takes just 4.5 hours to charge using a level 2 setup in your home. If you need a quick charge, there’s a direct current option that brings the batteries up to 80 percent in fewer than 40 minutes. BMW i3 drivers also have access to a public charging system called ChargeNow which provides convenient access to electric ports in urban areas.

Moonroof Added to Available Options

Although the BMW i3 comes with loads of standard features, the addition of an optional moonroof for the first time is sure to entice buyers who like to let a little nature into their drive. Standard equipment on the i3 includes automatic climate control, LED headlights, DC fast charging system, navigation, HD radio and dynamic cruise control. A leather steering wheel, park distance control and hands-free phone operation is also standard.

BMW ‘i’ Brand Stands for Vision

The BMW i series of vehicles is a brand that not only stands for a visionary philosophy of building sustainable vehicles geared toward the future, but also with an understanding of how connectivity is going to contribute to solving the traffic problems of the coming decades. See the i3 and i8 and take a test drive to learn more about how these visionary cars are poised to lead the automotive industry into the next decade when you take a trip to Chapman BMW on Camelback.
