2015 BMW X6 Restyled And Elegant

When the X6 made its debut, it was the first fastback-styled SUV to the market, redefining the SUV landscape. This gives BMW SUVs the stylistic bite most commonly associated with the automaker’s sports cars.

For 2015, the BMW X6 gets a massive upgrade, though it is still undeniably an X6, with its huge—and iconic—twin-kidney grille. The X6 receives a short, stubby and stylish rear end with elegantly creased design lines. You can find the 2015 BMW X6 at Chapman BMW on Camelback.

To shave costs, BMW ensured the X6 and X5 share the same hood, grille and headlight assemblies along with sharing the same platform. Inside, the X6 shares the X5 interior as well. Overall, the interior is an upgrade with nicer materials than previous offerings. Cargo capacity is 53.9 cubic feet, with the second row folding in 40/20/20 sections.

The entry-level X6 is the new rear-drive sDrive35i,  powered by a 300-horsepower, 300-ft-lb, turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine. The xDrive all-wheel drive also is available; both are mated to an eight-speed automatic. The sDriver35i is the first rear-drive X6 from BMW.

The X6 xDrive50i model boasts of a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine producing 445 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of twist. The six-pot motor hits 60 mph in six seconds while the V-8 hits 60 in just 4.8.

In a race to save weight, BMW has gone to some lengths to reduce pounds by forming the fenders from plastic, having an aluminum hood, and a magnesium cross brace behind the dash. Other components of the xDrive system have also been lightened, saving between 35 to 55 pounds in weight, depending on model and trim.

The 2015 BMW X6 has a slew of standard features and available options, including Driving Dynamics Control, air suspension with adaptive damping and electromechanical power-steering.

Nineteen-inch wheels are standard, while 20-inch wheels are also available, along with a soft-close lift gate function, a feature available for the doors as well. Wood, aluminum and leather are interior trim choices. The iDrive infotainment and navigation system is standard and controlled via the classic BMW dial. A new freestanding screen is also standard atop the dash.
